In the above video, the Bollywood legend, spiritual leader and Honorable Union Minister are advocating for psychology based strong education to reduce road accident deaths. Shri Anurag Jain Secretary MoRTH is considering human behavior as the main cause of road accident deaths and is relying on awareness campaigns for human behavior change. If behavior change is possible through education and awareness then no one smokes after seeing the warning message of smoking is harmful to health. In the absence of proper sowing of seeds, weeds grow on their own and these weeds turn into big bushes with time. If road users are not imparted road safety skills in the beginning, they develop the illusion of complete knowledge based on half knowledge which is dangerous. Even if we have planted the right seed, we have to keep removing weeds until the seed grows to the stage of a large plant. Current human behavior is the harvest of a seed that was sown long ago or because of the grown up weeds. If the desired fruit is not obtained then we should destroy the present crop as well as bushes of weeds and sow new seeds by changing the seed quality, soil and process and take good care of the newly sown seeds. Every consequence has a root cause, every behavior has a root cause, and it is essential to fix the root cause rather than trying to fix the consequences, because if the root cause is not fixed, the consequences will never end. The root cause can be changed not by awareness and education but by special mechanism. We have already passed the emergency alert level and imminent disaster is looming over us and behavior can turn into reflex action and if that happens even God cannot change the reflex. 94% of road accidents are happening due to human error which can be corrected but road users are not accepting their mistakes, not correcting their mistakes and repeating them. It is clear in the above video that Priyanka who met with 15 road accidents and claims that she was not at fault and she cannot be at fault. She is making this claim in the presence of all those experts and no one told her that it was her duty-bound responsibility to prevent all the 15 accidents that happened to her. As long as we are using the roads, we are all responsible for preventing and provoking road accidents. Failing to prevent road accident means provoking road accidents. Roads are a shared space and we are equally and dutifully responsible to prevent road accidents. It takes two hands to clap and two parties to collide, but people blame others for accidents and by doing so they are hiding their failure in the duty of accident prevention.
