Road Safety is a shared responsibility. Government plays a vital role in addressing issues of road safety, government alone can not do much on road safety. However, private sector, involvement can further boost the efforts of the government. Civic authorities, transport authorities & traffic police autorities and also road users are not having much coordination. The productivity of industry, transportation of goods, raw material and products; furnishing goods to market; and ensuring employee attendance is all dependent on safe and efficient transport system. Due to casualties in road accidents there is not only loss of human life, but has a greater impact in terms of loss of bread earner in a family, loss of an employee and overall loss to the economy and Nation. The United Nations has proclaimed 2011-20 as the Decade of Action on Road Safety and encouraged member countries and civil societies / NGOs to work together to achieve the sustainable development goal (SDG) in road safety. Hence there is a need for collective & consistent action by the Government, Private Sector and Civil Society/NGO for the sustainable solution to improve road safety.
