Feeding The Needy - Hunger Relief

Grappling with a "serious hunger problem, India was ranked 97th last year among 119 developing countries on the Global Hunger Index (GHI), behind North Korea & Bangladesh and even the beseiged Iraq, but ahead of Pakistan. The countrt hunger problem is driven by high child malnutrition, and underlines the need for stronger commitment to the social sector, sourced from the report released by Washington-based International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

India is the world’s second largest food producer, yet it is also home to the second highest population of under-nourished in the world.

“Even with the massive scale up of national nutrition-focused programs in India, drought and structural deficiencies have left a large number of poor in India at risk of malnourishment in 2017."

What is Hunger?

Hunger is the physical sensation of desiring food. However when we talk about people suffering from hunger we usually refer to those who, for sustained periods, are unable to eat sufficient food to meet basic nutritional needs 1.e. for days, weeks, even months, its victims must live on significantly less than the recommended nutritional levels that the average person needs to lead a healthy life. Daily undernourishment is less visible form of hunger, but it affects many more people.

What causes hunger?

The poverty hunger nexus is considered the most important factor in causing hunger among people. The posverty stricken do not have enough money to buy or produce enough food for themselves and their families. In turn, they tend to be weaker and cannot produce enough to buy more foor. Thus the poor are hungry and their hunger traps them in poverty.

Manifestations of hunger.

The manifestation of hunger, a lack of food in stomach, but there are different manifestations of hunger/starvation. It is a severe deficiency in caloric energy, nutrient, and vitamin intake. It is the most extreme form of  malnutrition. In humans, prolonged starvation can cause permanent organ damage and eventually, death. It described as "state of exhaustion of the body caused by lack of food".

In our country there are people who are not able to have even one time food in a day and dying with the hunger. We have identified more than 50,000 people who are not getting two time daily food, and we have taken up this task to provide them a free food. People can have their free food. We have earmarked 4 locations in India to set up this kind of free meal centers to provide free food as a hunger relief to the people who are not able to get food. We serve packet food or one time meal to poor and needy people.

We appeal the public to support us for this cause by giving us donations to save life of all such poor peoples. Please click here ........to make a contribution / donation to provide a meal/food for the poor.

This is an initiative of Mother India Care.
